HR Professionals track available at KanSPRA Fall Conference in October; paid registration required

The Kansas School Public Relations Association (KanSPRA) is inviting Kansas school human resources professionals to attend a special HR track on Thursday, Oct. 20, offered during KanSPRA’s Fall Conference in Maize.

One of the KanSPRA Fall Conference keynote speakers is National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) President-Elect Cathy Kedjidjian, APR. She is the Executive Director of Communications and Strategic Planning for Glenview School District 34 in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb north of Chicago. She will deliver the following one-hour general session about the important collaboration between school human resources and public relations professionals:

HR-PR Partnerships: Find the Connections that Help You Create a Culture of Staff Support

Human Resources is school PR’s top ally in brand and culture building, which means PR is HR’s BFF in recruiting and retaining high-quality staff. Learn ways to make concrete HR-PR connections and to use those connections to build meaningful relationships with staff:

  • Create newsletters that connect leaders to staff and each other.

  • Plan new teacher events (with swag!) that connect staff from the start.

  • Ensure a continuous focus on staff wellness.

Your internal audience is your most important audience: Work with HR to put them first in your communication planning.

In addition to this general session, registered participants of the HR track also are invited to join KanSPRA for lunch and an afternoon breakout session that includes communications legal guidance from the Kansas Association of School Boards. This special HR track is available for $25 and includes the professional development sessions and lunch. This is a great value for a super-sized Lunch & Learn offering from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Maize Performing Arts and Aquatics Center, 1055 Academy Ave. in Maize.

Kansas school districts without a full-time communications professional on staff may find this track especially useful.

Those interested are also invited to do one or both of the following.
