
Kansas ASCD is partnering with BetterLesson to offer a virtual professional learning event specifically designed to meet the needs of schools as the academic year ends and we begin to contemplate the undetermined realities of the coming school year. This 2-day conference is specifically designed to bring instructional teams together to redesign and refine their Continuous Learning Plans to address the complexities of the upcoming 2020-2021 school year.
Why Attend?
Attendees will have the opportunity to:

Unpack the four pillars of effective distance learning and how they promote equitable learning outcomes for students and self-care for teachers.

Understand the core questions educators should consider when developing and refining a distance learning experience for students

Develop a personalized district/school action plan/s based on the specific needs of your staff, results of data from Spring 2020 and recommendations by distance experts

Explore specific focus areas/topics that make up effective distance learning and make recommendations to the team that will inform professional development and support needs
In addition to the two sessions and collaborative planning time, all teams will receive a 1:1 Strategy Session with a BetterLesson Solution Designer.

Registration Cost
Registration is $120 per person through Friday, March 22nd, and $150 afterwards. The last day to register is Wednesday, March 27 at 3 pm CST.

Morning Virtual Session- Leading Through Change: Refining your Continuous Improvement Plan
As instructional leaders, you are supporting this rapid shift towards distance learning and thinking about equity, learning continuity, and your students. How can you best support your teachers and students to be successful in this environment? How can you assess progress and make a plan for ongoing support? This session gives school and district leaders a space to learn high-impact practices about this modality and an opportunity to strategize how they can narrow their own focus to support change management and growing their instructional leadership.
All attendees will be assigned to one of the concurrent 2-hour sessions running from 9:00 - 11:00 AM CST. An additional time slot may open depending on registration number.
Afternoon - Leadership Team Activities
Regroup as a team to debrief the morning’s session and begin applying the concepts learned to your Continuous Learning Plan. You will be provided with additional resources and planning guides to facilitate this collaborative time.

Morning Virtual Session - Follow-Up Virtual Workshop Sessions
Select from one of thirteen 2-hour learning sessions to best address the needs of your students and staff. Your team can choose to attend various sessions to come together later with increased capacity and resources, or to all choose a topic that is especially central to your district or school.

Sessions have limited capacity and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Extended Learning Opportunity: One-to-one Distance Learning Consultation with a BetterLesson Solution Designer
Each team will be able to schedule a meeting with a BetterLesson Solution Designer to take stock of their current distance learning plan, identify blockers and potential challenges, and receive specific feedback and recommended action for moving their plan to the next phase of implementation.
