Collaborative bargaining or problem solving is an approach to dispute resolution that is based on a commitment to increase meaningful dialogue between parties and utilize common interests to reach durable solutions that everyone understands and can support. Interest based bargaining (IBB) is a collaborative approach pioneered by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service that emphasizes the value of communication between all stakeholders to achieve better outcomes for all.
In this training you will learn the principles and assumptions that support the process, as well as the fundamental differences that distinguish it from traditional bargaining. In addition, you will learn the skills and techniques that facilitate its effectiveness. You will explore the steps of the process and how to apply them. You will have an opportunity to practice the process with the guidance of your facilitator.
