Now that we know about trauma, what do we do next?

This 5-hour workshop will provide participants with structure and opportunity to plan next steps to become a trauma-informed school.  The workshop will begin with a brief overview of the underlying research including the landmark ACEs study and generational trauma. Participants will discuss key assumptions and principles of trauma-informed organizations.

The planning process will begin with an organizational self-assessment. Goal setting and planning will consider data collection, monitoring, and adjustment.  Action plans will include developing leadership, building community, coaching for success, parent engagement, and sustainability.

In a trauma informed school, adults recognize the needs of students who have experienced trauma and create a nurturing supportive environment that promotes healing.   Trauma-informed schools help all students, regardless of their trauma history, increase resiliency to face future challenges.
