This workshop will provide participants with an overview of the prevalence of trauma within the school-age population and its potential consequences:  lifelong physical health, mental health, and learning challenges. Students who don’t feel connected and can’t self-regulate struggle with learning.  Participants will be given tools to begin the planning process to create trauma informed schools.

In a trauma informed school, adults understand the needs of students who have experienced trauma. We can’t protect all children from traumatic experiences; but, we can help them cope and recover.  A trauma informed school benefits all students regardless of their trauma history.
